Free Fake Salary Slip / Payslip Verifier
Check a payslip for the traces a fake salary slip leaves: figures that do not add up, an amount in words that disagrees with the net pay, numbers typed over whited-out ones, and a PDF that was re-saved after it was issued. Built for HR background checks and lender income verification.
Fill these in before choosing the file and the slip is checked against what you were told, too.

How to identify a fake salary slip
Nine checks a fake payslip has to survive
Payroll software computes every figure on a payslip from one set of numbers. A person editing a slip changes one figure at a time. That difference is what these checks look for.
Text layer
Numbers typed over numbers
The usual edit is a white box over the real figure and a new one typed on top. The original is still in the file underneath, and the check reads both.
Arithmetic
Gross minus deductions equals net
Raise the net pay without touching the gross, and the slip no longer adds up. Payroll software cannot produce a slip that fails this.
Arithmetic
Components add up to the totals
Every earning line against the gross, every deduction line against total deductions — column by column, including rate and actual columns.
Amount in words
Words that match the figure
"Rupees Forty Five Thousand Only" is generated from the same number as the net pay. Forgers change the digits and leave the words.
Statutory deductions
PF and professional tax
Employee PF is 12% of basic, or ₹1,800 at the wage ceiling. Professional tax is capped at ₹2,500 a year by the Constitution, so a monthly slip cannot exceed it.
Identifiers
PAN and UAN format
A UAN has exactly 12 digits. An individual's PAN has P as its fourth character. Invented identifiers often get this wrong.

Pay month against file dates
A slip for September cannot be a file created in June. A pay period that has not happened yet is not a payslip.

Edits saved after issue
Each re-save appends a revision to the PDF and keeps the earlier one. The number of revisions is written into the file's own structure.

The software that made it
Payslips come out of payroll systems and office software. One whose producer is an image editor was handled as a picture.
Reading the result
A high score means ask for proof, not reject
A HIGH score means the payslip contradicts itself or shows signs of editing. The right response is to ask for corroboration: the salary credit on a bank statement, the EPFO passbook, or a confirmation from the employer's HR. It is not a reason to reject an applicant on its own.
A LOW score is not a guarantee. A payslip rebuilt from scratch in a spreadsheet, with every number made consistent, passes the arithmetic checks, because the arithmetic is right. What gives it away is outside the document: the salary never reached a bank account, or the employer never filed PF for that person. Checking against those sources is what DocuExprt does at scale.
Questions
Payslip verification, answered
Is the payslip uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is read by JavaScript running in your browser tab and is never sent to a server, which matters for a document full of salary and identity details. You can confirm it in your browser's network panel. Closing the tab discards everything.
How do you identify a fake salary slip?
Start with the slip itself: check that gross minus deductions equals net pay, that the amount in words matches the figure, that PF is 12% of basic, and that the PAN and UAN are well-formed. Then check the file: whether it was re-saved after it was issued, and what software produced it. Finally, confirm outside the document with a bank statement that shows the salary credit, or the EPFO passbook.
Can it catch a payslip made with an online salary slip generator?
Partly. Generators produce consistent arithmetic, so those checks pass. What they rarely get right is the rest: the PDF's producer names the generator rather than a payroll system, statutory deductions are often implausible, and identifiers are invented. A generated slip that passes here still has to match a bank credit and a PF record, which it will not.
What should I do when a payslip scores HIGH?
Treat it as a reason to verify, not a verdict. Ask for three months of bank statements showing the salary credit and the EPFO passbook for the same period, or confirm with the employer's HR. Read the listed signals too: a slip whose net pay does not match its own arithmetic is far more serious than one re-saved once.
Does it work on scanned or photographed payslips?
It reads the file structure of a scanned PDF, but a scan has no text layer, so the salary figures cannot be read and the arithmetic checks are skipped. The page says so rather than guessing. For pixel-level edits in a scan or photo, use the Document Tampering Checker.
Verifying income for every applicant?
One payslip is a check. Every applicant is a process.
DocuExprt reads payslips, bank statements and offer letters in bulk, cross-checks income across them, verifies PAN and employment against 30+ government databases, and sends only the ones that do not reconcile to a person.
Checking one applicant, or every applicant?
A payslip that adds up is not proof the salary was paid.
DocuExprt reads payslips, bank statements and offer letters together, cross-checks the income across them, verifies PAN and employment at source, and sends only the files that do not reconcile to your team.
